One Dead, Another Arrested After Shots Fired and House Fire in Ellis County

Ellis County, OKLA. – A deadly incident unfolded Monday morning in Ellis County when emergency crews responded to a report of shots fired and a house fire in Arnett.

At approximately 7 a.m., deputies from the Ellis County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a home near S County Road 200 and Highway 60. Upon arrival, responders found the house fully engulfed in flames. Firefighters quickly worked to extinguish the blaze.

After the fire was brought under control, authorities discovered the body of an adult man inside the home. The victim’s identity has not been released, pending further investigation. The body was transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death.

In the course of the investigation, officials with the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) identified 22-year-old Calum Carman as a person of interest. Carman was arrested and taken into custody. He was booked into the Ellis County Jail, though formal charges have not yet been filed.

The circumstances surrounding the fire and the fatality remain under investigation. Authorities are continuing to gather information, and the investigation is ongoing.
