Oklahoma City Mother and Child Escape Burning Car in Taco Bell Parking Lot

Oklahoma City, OK – An Oklahoma City mother and her young son narrowly escaped a dangerous car fire Friday evening in a Taco Bell parking lot near S May Avenue and I-240. The harrowing ordeal left the car, affectionately named “Johnny Boy” by the owner, a total loss.

Maysa Webster, the vehicle’s owner, had just finished paying off the car earlier in the week. Losing it in the fire was devastating, but Webster’s quick actions ensured that she and her son made it out safely.

According to Webster, the incident began when she pulled into the Taco Bell parking lot to grab some food for herself and her child. After parking, she began to hear strange noises coming from her car. “I started hearing popping sounds and noticed smoke coming from the car,” she said. “That’s when I knew I had only a few moments to act.”

The situation quickly escalated, and Webster could see the smoke worsening by the second. “I didn’t know whether to turn the car on or off,” she said. “But I just grabbed my son as fast as I could because it literally started catching on fire.”

Without hesitation, Webster managed to pull her son out of the car and escape to safety, moments before the vehicle was fully engulfed in flames. Thankfully, both mother and child were unharmed, though the car was left completely destroyed.

While the exact cause of the fire remains under investigation, Webster’s swift response undoubtedly prevented what could have been a far more tragic outcome.
