OKLAHOMA CITY, OK — A grieving family in Oklahoma City is searching for justice after their son was brutally shot and beaten in the early hours of April 20, 2021, outside an apartment complex near Western and Hefner Road.
Sharon Trout’s world was shattered when her son, Zach Dixon, was attacked in what authorities believe to have been a senseless and violent act. According to Trout, her son was shot twice—once in the left side of his head and again in his lower abdomen. The attack left Zach fighting for his life, and doctors warned his mother that, should he survive, he would likely be dependent on a ventilator for the rest of his life.
However, against all odds, Zach Dixon defied the medical prognosis. While he survived, the aftermath of the shooting has left him permanently altered. Sharon Trout described the toll the attack has taken on her son, noting that while he is able to walk, he struggles with mobility and has limited use of his left arm. “He walks, he drags on the left side. His left arm is pretty much useless,” she explained.
Despite the immense physical and emotional pain her son continues to endure, Sharon Trout remains determined to seek justice. Unfortunately, two years later, she says the case appears to have stalled, leaving her and her family without answers.
The mother of three is calling on anyone with information about the crime to come forward. “He deserves justice. We deserve justice. This has changed our entire lives,” she said, her voice filled with both sorrow and frustration.
