Edmond Police Officer Stabbed During Traffic Stop

EDMOND, Okla. — A routine traffic stop in Edmond took a violent turn Thursday afternoon when an officer was reportedly stabbed during a confrontation in a parking lot near 15th Street and Broadway.

According to Edmond Police Department officials, the incident unfolded when the officer pulled into a Goodwill parking lot to conduct a traffic stop. As the officer approached the driver’s vehicle, a suspect approached from behind, pepper-spraying the officer before engaging in a physical altercation. During the struggle, the officer was stabbed.

Authorities have not released the officer’s identity or current condition but confirmed that medical personnel responded to the scene and transported the officer to a nearby hospital. The extent of the officer’s injuries remains unclear at this time.

The suspect, whose identity has also not been disclosed, fled the scene after the attack. Law enforcement is actively investigating the incident and searching for the individual involved.

“Our officers are trained to handle difficult situations, but this kind of violence is never something we expect to encounter,” said a spokesperson for the Edmond Police Department. “We are thankful that the officer is receiving the medical attention they need, and we are working diligently to locate the suspect.”
