Homicide Investigation Underway After Fatal Shooting in Midwest City

MIDWEST CITY, Okla. — Authorities are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred Friday night in Midwest City, resulting in the death of a 21-year-old man.

According to the Midwest City Police Department, officers responded to reports of gunshots around 10:20 p.m. in the 3300 block of North Oak Grove. Upon arrival, officers encountered multiple people fleeing the scene on foot and in vehicles.

Officials discovered the victim, identified as Ethan Buycks of Oklahoma City, lying in the front yard of a residence with multiple gunshot wounds to the torso. First responders performed life-saving measures before transporting Buycks to OU Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

Investigators say the shooting took place near an open-invitation pool party celebrating high school graduates, which reportedly drew as many as 100 attendees. Detectives have been interviewing residents in the area but have yet to confirm any suspect descriptions.
