Enid, OK – Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt announced the creation of a new division within the state government aimed at enhancing efficiency and reducing wasteful spending. In an executive order issued on Monday, Stitt unveiled the Division of Government Efficiency (DOGE-OK), which will be housed within the Office of Management and Enterprise Services (OMES).
The primary goal of DOGE-OK is to build upon past state efforts to streamline government operations and ensure taxpayer dollars are being spent wisely. The division will focus on identifying inefficiencies and eliminating unnecessary expenditures across state agencies. According to a statement from the Governor’s Office, DOGE-OK will be tasked with rooting out wasteful practices and improving overall effectiveness within Oklahoma’s state government.
“We are launching DOGE-OK today to maintain a strong focus on keeping our budgets flat and limiting the size of government,” Stitt said. “Our most important responsibility as leaders is to ensure that we are working in the most efficient way possible for the benefit of all four million Oklahomans. DOGE-OK will play a crucial role in identifying and eliminating inefficiencies. It is a key component of our efforts to make Oklahoma a top ten state.”
The new division will work closely with state agencies, officials, and existing government efficiency programs to ensure that all areas of government are operating as effectively as possible. As part of the initiative, the executive order also creates the unpaid position of Chief DOGE Advisor, who will report directly to Governor Stitt.
All state agency directors will be required to cooperate with DOGE-OK, granting the division full access to agency records, data, software systems, and IT infrastructure to carry out its mission.
By establishing DOGE-OK, Stitt’s administration is signaling a continued commitment to fiscal responsibility and transparency, with an emphasis on ensuring that government operates at maximum efficiency while minimizing unnecessary spending.
