Choctaw Police Uncover 135 Pounds of Marijuana During Routine Traffic Stop

Choctaw, Okla. — A routine traffic stop in Choctaw led to a major drug bust this past Sunday evening when officers discovered 135 pounds of black-market marijuana in a vehicle. The driver, identified as Tingting Huang, was pulled over just before 11 p.m. after officers noticed her car had a non-working tag light and an expired tag.

The stop occurred near Louise Drive, and immediately after the vehicle was stopped, officers became suspicious when Huang only cracked her window slightly. Police Chief Kelly Marshall explained that the officers detected a faint odor of marijuana and observed other signs of potential criminal activity, which prompted a more thorough search of the vehicle.

Upon searching the car, authorities uncovered the large stash of marijuana, which had been carefully packaged in an attempt to deceive law enforcement. Chief Marshall noted that the packaging was clearly designed to avoid detection. The marijuana was found to be part of a larger illegal operation, as it was being transported with the intent to distribute.

Huang, who was driving the car with an out-of-state license plate, was taken into custody. The Choctaw Police Department is now working closely with the district attorney’s office to pursue charges. As part of the ongoing investigation, the police plan to auction off the vehicle involved in the bust.

This discovery highlights ongoing concerns about the trafficking of illegal drugs across state lines and the diligence required by law enforcement to intercept such operations. The bust serves as a reminder of the importance of routine traffic stops in preventing larger criminal activities.
