Oklahoma City Mother Claims Adult’s Excessive Force During Middle School Fight

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK — A disturbing incident at Jefferson Middle School has left a mother seeking justice after her 10-year-old daughter was allegedly attacked by an adult during a schoolyard altercation.

Veronica Murrow, the mother of the student involved in the fight, said the altercation took place Wednesday afternoon when her daughter, a fifth grader, was involved in a physical confrontation with another student. According to Murrow, her daughter was standing up for herself, refusing to let the other student bully her.

However, things took a dramatic turn when an adult, identified as the mother of the other student, reportedly intervened in the fight. Murrow claims the woman, who had been watching from her vehicle, exited the car and began encouraging her daughter to continue fighting.

“I was in disbelief,” Murrow said. “A mother was cheering her daughter on to beat my daughter up. It’s one thing to have a fight between kids, but when an adult gets involved, that’s crossing a line.”

In a shocking moment captured on video, the adult woman allegedly kneeled on Murrow’s daughter, forcefully pushing her to the ground and standing over her with clenched fists. Murrow stated that the woman’s actions were “excessive” and left her daughter shaken and in pain.

“My child was hurt. She was on the ground, and this woman was standing over her, telling her what was up with her fists balled,” Murrow explained. “It was beyond the scope of what should have happened. My daughter was scared, and I’m just heartbroken watching the video.”

As a result of the altercation, Murrow’s daughter was suspended from school, while the punishment for the other student involved remains unclear. The 10-year-old was also taken to the emergency room for medical attention due to pain in her neck and side, raising concerns about possible injuries such as broken ribs.

Murrow expressed her concern that the school’s response was insufficient, given the severity of the incident. “What if she would have broken my daughter’s ribs? What if things had been worse?” she said.

Feeling unsafe and frustrated, Murrow has decided to transfer her daughter to another school to ensure her well-being. She has also begun consulting with attorneys about potential legal action against the adult involved in the altercation.

“This is something that can’t be ignored,” Murrow stated. “I just want to make sure that no one else has to go through what my daughter did.”

The school district has not yet commented on the specifics of the incident or the discipline for the other student involved. The case is under review, with Murrow hoping for a resolution that will hold those responsible accountable for their actions.
