EDMOND, OK – Authorities have arrested two individuals following a fatal stabbing that took place Sunday at Rolling Green Apartments, located at 400 East Danforth in Edmond. Police say the incident unfolded when Darron Johnson attempted to visit his child at the apartment complex.
A dispute broke out between Johnson, the mother of his child, Kierra Barton, and her boyfriend, Joseph Jones.
According to police, during the altercation, Jones allegedly stabbed Johnson in the chest with a knife.
Johnson, bleeding from the stab wound, managed to run across the street to a nearby gas station where bystanders called 911 and attempted to assist him. Emergency responders transported Johnson to a local hospital, but despite efforts to save him, he was later pronounced dead.
Following the stabbing, Jones and Barton fled the scene in a vehicle. Authorities quickly launched an investigation, and with the help of the U.S. Marshals Service, they located Barton on Tuesday.
Barton was brought in for questioning at the Edmond Police Station, and that same day, Jones voluntarily turned himself in to authorities. Both individuals were arrested and taken to the Oklahoma County Detention Center.
The Oklahoma County District Attorney’s Office is currently reviewing the case, and charges are pending.
The investigation into the fatal stabbing is ongoing, and further details about the circumstances surrounding the altercation have not been released.
