Muscogee, Okla. — A foster mother and her husband are facing child neglect charges after allegedly leaving their 7-year-old foster child outside in frigid temperatures. The incident, which has sparked outrage, took place earlier this week, with both parents now facing legal action in Muscogee Nation court.
According to authorities, the foster mother, Kaytlin Fultz, a school teacher and Native American, claimed the child was left outside as a form of discipline. Fultz reportedly told investigators that the child was outside to “reset” herself. The child was left in the extreme cold, which authorities believe was a form of neglect.
Court records show that Kaytlin Fultz was booked and released late Wednesday night, facing charges of child neglect. Her husband, Andrew Fultz, also faces similar charges. He bonded out of jail earlier this week, according to court documents.
The child is no longer in the care of the Fultzes and has been placed in a safe location, away from the alleged harmful environment.
The case has raised questions about the safety and well-being of children in foster care, with many expressing concern over the Fultzes’ actions. Legal proceedings in the case are expected to continue as both individuals face serious charges in the Muscogee Nation court system.
The Muscogee Nation authorities have yet to release further details, but the investigation remains ongoing as they work to determine the full scope of the situation.
