OSBI Identifies Man Shot and Killed by Police in Guthrie

Guthrie, Okla. — The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) has confirmed the identity of the man who was shot and killed by police in Guthrie on Friday afternoon. Authorities report that 38-year-old David Dunford was fatally wounded while officers were conducting a welfare check near Highway 77 and Industrial Road.

According to the OSBI, the incident occurred during a routine welfare check, although the specific events leading up to the shooting remain unclear. Investigators have not yet disclosed the exact circumstances that resulted in the use of deadly force.
