According to police reports, the situation began when two vehicles came to a stop in a residential area near Crosby Boulevard and West Rulane Drive. A confrontation ensued, escalating to violence when one man was shot in the head. The victim was rushed to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
The suspect, identified as the driver of a black Nissan Altima, fled the scene immediately after the shooting. However, the vehicle was located a short time later in Del City, parked outside a fast food restaurant. Residents of the area, who are accustomed to the quiet nature of their neighborhood, expressed shock and disbelief following the incident. Tim Raiber, a local resident who has lived in the area for five years, witnessed the aftermath of the shooting from the end of his street. He described the neighborhood as a peaceful, family-oriented community with a mix of longtime residents and newcomers.
“I’m shocked to see that happening in our neighborhood,” Raiber told News 4. “It’s usually quiet here, with kids playing around and families just living their lives.”
Raiber added that the area is home to a variety of families, from older residents to younger families like his own. Many homes in the neighborhood are being remodeled, which he said reflects a growing sense of community in the area.
Police are urging anyone with information regarding the shooting or the suspect’s whereabouts to come forward. As the investigation continues, authorities are working to piece together the details surrounding the incident in hopes of bringing those responsible to justice.
