EDMOND, Okla. — Authorities confirmed Tuesday evening that the body of a missing 73-year-old man was recovered from Arcadia Lake, bringing a tragic end to a Silver Alert issued earlier that day.
According to the Edmond Police Department, officers responded to a call reporting a body floating in the water. Upon arrival, crews located and recovered the body, later identifying the deceased as Earl Sykes of Logan County.
Sykes had been the subject of a Silver Alert issued around 8 a.m. Tuesday morning after he was last seen near Memorial Road and May Avenue in Oklahoma City on Monday. His vehicle was found parked near the lake, raising concerns about his whereabouts.
Police have not yet released details about the circumstances surrounding Sykes’ death, but there is no indication of foul play at this time. The investigation remains ongoing.
Silver Alerts are typically issued for elderly individuals or adults with cognitive impairments who are believed to be in danger. Authorities thanked the public for their vigilance and assistance during the search.
Further information, including possible cause of death, is expected to be released following an autopsy.
