Oklahoma District Attorney Seeks Death Penalty in Triple Murder Case

SALLISAW, Okla. — An Oklahoma man accused of killing three people in 2024 is now facing the possibility of the death penalty. Stacy Lee Drake, 50, stands charged with multiple counts, including three counts of first-degree murder and robbery with a dangerous weapon.

District Attorney Jack Thorp filed a formal request in Sequoyah County on May 21, seeking the death penalty against Drake. The charges stem from a series of violent crimes in Oklahoma, where Drake is accused of fatally shooting Phillip Emerson in El Reno, as well as Tara Underwood and Taylor Sharp in Gans.

In addition to the Oklahoma charges, Drake is also accused of murdering another individual in Alabama, highlighting a disturbing pattern of criminal activity. Alongside the murder counts, Drake faces charges of possession of a stolen vehicle and a pattern of criminal offenses.

The case is expected to proceed to trial in Sequoyah County, where prosecutors will present evidence supporting their pursuit of the harshest penalty under Oklahoma law.
