OKLAHOMA CITY, OK — Authorities have identified a suspect in connection to a deadly stabbing that occurred Friday at a homeless encampment in southeast Oklahoma City.
According to the Oklahoma City Police Department, an arrest warrant has been issued for 26-year-old River Curnett. He is wanted on charges of first-degree murder and domestic assault and battery with a dangerous weapon after allegedly fatally stabbing an individual near the intersection of South Robinson Avenue and Southeast 17th Street.
Investigators say the violent incident unfolded at the encampment shortly before Curnett fled the scene. Witnesses reportedly saw him running from the area, and he was later spotted near Will Rogers World Airport, where authorities believe he may have been attempting to flee the state.
The identity of the victim has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.
Police are urging the public not to approach Curnett if seen, as he is considered dangerous. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to immediately contact 911.
