Suspect Killed in Officer-Involved Shooting During Sex Crimes Warrant Service in Oklahoma City

Oklahoma City, OK — A suspect was fatally shot by police Wednesday morning during an officer-involved shooting in Oklahoma City. The incident occurred as officers were serving a search warrant related to a sex crimes investigation.

According to the Oklahoma City Police Department, officers arrived at a residence near Southeast 59th Street and Bryant Avenue at approximately 6 a.m. to execute the warrant. MSgt. Gary Knight said that the suspect fled through the back door upon police arrival and led officers on a foot chase while armed with a pistol.

“At some point during the pursuit, the suspect engaged in an armed confrontation with one of the officers,” MSgt. Knight said. “The officer discharged his firearm, striking and killing the suspect.”

Multiple crime scene units and investigators responded to the location to begin their investigation into the shooting. Authorities have not released the identity of the suspect or further details about the ongoing investigation.

The Oklahoma City Police Department said it is standard procedure to conduct a thorough review following any officer-involved shooting. The department has not indicated whether the officer involved will face any disciplinary action.
