Lawton, OK \u2014 Two people were killed early Sunday morning in a two-vehicle collision on US-283, south of Cheyenne.<\/p>\n

According to investigators with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP), 24-year-old Thomas J. Stampul of Sayre was driving southbound about seven miles south of Cheyenne when his vehicle began to fishtail. The vehicle crossed into the northbound lane, where it collided with a vehicle driven by 39-year-old Misti D. Morris of Cheyenne.<\/p>\n

Stampul was pronounced dead at the scene from injuries sustained in the crash. Morris, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was pinned in her vehicle for over five hours before emergency responders were able to extricate her. She was later pronounced dead at the scene.<\/p>\n

The driver of Stampul’s vehicle, who was wearing a seatbelt, was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition.<\/p>\n

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.<\/p>\n

This tragic incident serves as a reminder of the importance of seatbelt use, as both passengers in Stampul\u2019s vehicle were wearing theirs, but Morris was not.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
