Oklahoma City, OK – Oklahoma City\u2019s Crossroads Mall is poised for a major transformation as it embarks on a new chapter under the ownership of the Crossroads Renewal Project, a faith-based nonprofit led by Chris Brewster, superintendent of Santa Fe South Charter Schools. Brewster, whose organization recently acquired the mall for approximately $9 million, envisions the site as a one-stop hub for the community.<\/p>\n

The 1.2 million-square-foot mall, located near the I-35 and I-240 interchange, currently houses Santa Fe South Charter Schools, serving as an educational space for local students. However, Brewster\u2019s plans go far beyond education. The goal of the Crossroads Renewal Project is to create a vibrant space that offers services and amenities essential for families. These include childcare, healthcare, grocery stores, fitness facilities like a YMCA, and more.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe see this as a gift to Oklahoma City,\u201d Brewster said. \u201cOur vision is to provide a space where families can find everything they need in one place, and where the community can thrive together.\u201d<\/p>\n

The purchase of the mall was a complex process, involving multiple legal hurdles that delayed the transaction. Brewster shared that the deal required 20 amendments to the original purchase agreement. However, despite the challenges, the project has garnered strong support from local philanthropists, with Hobby Lobby being the largest donor. Other contributors include the Inasmuch Foundation, the Butterfield Foundation, and the Charter School Growth Fund, along with numerous individual supporters.<\/p>\n

The renewed Crossroads Mall will not only continue to serve as an educational center but will also host over 100 businesses and services, according to Brewster. He noted that the area is already bustling with activity, thanks to the 2,500 students attending Santa Fe South and nearby schools like Dove Science Academy. The high foot traffic from parents and students is expected to help drive the success of the new businesses.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re excited about the energy this will bring to the area,\u201d Brewster said. \u201cThe demand for housing is already there, and we believe that providing these services will create a strong, sustainable community for years to come.\u201d<\/p>\n

With a projected cost of $80-85 million, the Crossroads Renewal Project aims to transform the mall into a vital community asset that meets the needs of local families. The project represents a bold vision to create a space that combines education, faith, commerce, and community resources\u2014an ambitious endeavor that, once completed, is expected to have a lasting impact on Oklahoma City.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
