MOORE, Okla. \u2014 A Moore resident has received a measure of justice after being scammed by a local contractor who failed to complete promised home improvement work. Following a two-year legal battle, an Oklahoma judge has ordered the contractor to repay the money.<\/p>\n
In 2023, Janet Wills paid nearly $3,000 to Anthony Flores, owner of Love It Construction, LLC<\/em>, for the installation of new windows and a glass sliding door. According to Wills, Flores promised the job would be completed within six to eight weeks. But after the eighth week passed with no updates\u2014and eventually, no response\u2014she realized she had been deceived.<\/p>\n \u201cHe said it\u2019d take six to eight weeks. Eight weeks came around and I hadn\u2019t heard anything, then nine weeks and 10 weeks,\u201d Wills told News 4.<\/p>\n The payment had been made in full before any work began. Flores never returned to the job site.<\/p>\n Determined not to let the issue go unresolved, Wills turned to social media. She discovered she was not alone\u2014more than 20 individuals came forward with similar complaints against Flores, with reported losses ranging from a few thousand dollars to more than $80,000.<\/p>\n \u201cThere were 20 different people that had been scammed $80,000 and $20,000, where he would come and do a little bit of work and take money,\u201d Wills said.<\/p>\n In response to multiple complaints, the Moore Police Department launched an investigation. Lieutenant Wes Yost confirmed in 2023 that officers had sufficient evidence to move forward with charges.<\/p>\n \u201cWe had all the probable cause we needed to file charges in Cleveland County,\u201d Yost said at the time.<\/p>\n Flores was arrested in April 2023 and faced multiple felony charges, including False Pretense, Bogus Check, and Con Game.<\/p>\n Despite the arrest, Wills pursued further action to recover her funds.
